My 86 year old father broke his hip and has to have a toilet next to his bed. The Guardian padded bedside commode is excellent quality and excellent value. It is rated for 350 lbs., I bet it would handle 450 lbs. but realize the manufacture wouldn’t want the liability if they advertised 450 lbs. and the product failed. My dad is thin and feeble (5’9’ & around 140 lbs.) so the seat is a little wide for his liking. I’m sure the price would be a lot more if Guardian built several different sizes for different people. It is an excellent product for a very reasonable price. The side rails are completely down and out of the way once they are flipped down, so a heavier person who has wide hips can still use this toilet also.
